Mayor for upgrading Marghzaar Zoo

Islamabad—On the directions of Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz, all available resources would be utilized to make Marghzaar Zoo a state of the art facility and steps would be taken to make it financially sustainable one.
These views were expressed by the Member Administration CDA, Muhammad Suleman Khan Warriach while visiting Marghzaar Zoo.
On this occasion, Director General Environment, Deputy Director General Environment and other senior officers were also present.
Member Administration said that in line with the directions of Mayor, Marghzaar Zoo would be extended and upgraded not only to provide healthy recreational opportunities but would be developed as a hub of positive activities. He said that more recreational and entertainment opportunities would be added in the zoo.
He said that due to shortage of funds, strategy would be evolved to carry out phase wise extension of the zoo. He said that Marghazar Zoo has significant importance due to its ideal location and beautiful surroundings. Member said that Mayor has directed to add more animals in the Zoo so that people visiting it from all over the country particularly the residents of twin cities would be provided with more healthy entertainment facilities.
Earlier, Member Administration was apprised that Marghazar Zoo was established on 25 acres land and planning has been completed to extend it to 80 acres.
He was informed that PC-I amounting Rs.1400.00 million has been approved in this regard. He was informed that four to five hundred people from the twin cities daily visit this facility however, this number increases to one lac during Eid holidays.
