Ameer Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan Senator Sirajul Haq has said that it has been proved beyond doubt that there is a lobby in the government which wants to abolish the articles relating to the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat in the Constitution.
Talking to the media after a meeting with the PTI vice Chairman Shah Mehmud Qureshi at Mansoora, he called upon the government to expose the lobby, disassociate itself from these elements and punish them so that nobody could dare to make such a heinous attempt in future.
Sirajul Haq said the issue of the Khatm e Nabuwwat and the dignity of the Holy Prophet pbuh was a matter of faith for the 210 million Pakistanis and any attempt to alter the laws in this regard could never be successful. He said it was matter of deep satisfaction that the JI MNAs took notice of the conspiracy on time otherwise the government was not ready to accept there was any evil move.
He said the contradictions in the government statements had come to the fore. He said in the beginning, the government had denied there was any amendment but now the word ‘declaration’ had been promptly replaced by the word ‘affidavit’. He said that even the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had demanded punishment for the people behind the move.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI with the support of the like-minded parties in the Parliament, would raise the issue in the Senate with full force as it was not an issue on which they could remain silent.
He further said that in order to ensure that the next elections were free from doubts, a transparent electoral system was inevitable. He said he had discussed with the PTI central leader the issue of the NAB Chairman’s appointment.—INP
