KC EU holding ‘Kashmiri women conference’ in Brussels


brussels—The Kashmir Council Europe (EU) will arrange an international conference on role of women in struggle for right to self-determination of Kashmiris.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed in a statement issue in Brussels said that the conference would be held with collaboration of ‘Friends of Kashmir Group’ of the European Parliament on September 27 (Tuesday) at the premises of the Parliament in Brussels.
He said the conference is one of the series of the events aim to increase awareness about the miseries and hardships of oppressed people of Kashmir especially Kashmiri women suffering under the Indian occupation.
He said it is a kind of solidarity with the brave women of Kashmir who are victims of state terrorism and affected by severe situation of occupied Kashmir.
Ali Raza Syed said that the conference would also focus on mass rape of Kashmiri women in the village of Kunan Poshpura in 1991. Speech of one of the authors of the book, “Do You Remember Kunan Poshpura” is expected in the conference. There would also be a presentation in conference on a forthcoming independent report on human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU pointed out that India wanted to crush the peaceful struggle of Kashmiris by use of brutal force but the people were determined to continue their movement until freedom from Indian occupation.—KMS
