Karachi to have country’s largest state of art convention centre

Country’s largest Convention Centre, with a Statue of Democracy as its integral part, will be built soon in Karachi, said Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah here on Thursday.
Addressing an Award Ceremony organized by International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), he said the convention centre with Benazir Shaheed’s sculpture will be state of art work.
“It will be a way to pay tribute to the first women prime minister of the muslim world for her contribution to the cause of democracy.” said the minister.
“It will remind our youth and coming generations of the sacrifices rendered for democratic norms and the relevance of democracy itself for the society,” he stressed.
Nasir Hussain Shah said architects and artists from across the country will be invited to submit their proposals and a jury comprising internationally acknowledged professionals will approve the best submission through a transparent mechanism.
The provincial minister for transport and mass transit on the occasion also announced that ongoing development projects in Karachi will be completed on time.
“A comprehensive approach has been adopted for the purpose,” he said reiterating that no project will be left incomplete.
