Indifference to poverty

Usman Raza

Even in the 21st century, the world still faces serious issues like poverty, which is in fact the biggest problem. More than 40percent people in our country live below the poverty line. The authorities seem to be indifferent to the solution of this issue. Pakistan is an agricultural country blessed with four seasons and fertile land also enriched with natural resources; the land of Balochistan is full of minerals and resources.
With a population of more than 97 % Muslims while Zakat is one of the 5 pillars of Islam, which apparently shows that Pakistan must be having a system of well distributed wealth, but the ground reality is exactly opposite. The wealth distribution in Pakistan is presenting a situation where one family is looking for a new car, while the other family is worried about one time meal. Poverty in Pakistan is increasing day by day, and because of poverty and hunger more than thousands of people either commit suicide or join criminal gangs or terrorist organisations to feed their families. It’s time the government to take suitable action to solve this problem. “The greater the poverty, greater the crime rate”
