India interferes in religious affairs: Mufti

Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, chief cleric Mufti Bashir-ud-Din has said that India is making direct interference into the religious affairs of Muslims in the territory.
Mufti Bashir-ud-Din said this a day after Indian government submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court calling for an end to practices like “triple talaq”.
“It is direct religious interference,” Mufti Bashir-u-Din said in a statement.
He added that India had no authority to challenge or change the Sharia laws. “The action of Indian government is highly condemnable. It can have serious consequences,” he warned.—KMS
