IINA to hold EC and GA meetings in Jeddah

The International Islamic News Agency (IINA), a specialized media organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is holding the 25th session of its Executive Council and 5th session of its General Assembly, on 14-15 October 2017 in Jeddah.
Panel discussions, to be chaired by Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Dr.Awwad Saleh al-Awwad, with the presence of OIC Secretary General Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen, will explore the plan to enhance the Agency’s work and transform it into a union, along with the overall plan devised as part of the OIC 2025 Programme of Action. Agenda items also include the supportive role of Member States’ news agencies to the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, achieving greater joint action among these agencies, and the part IINA training center takes in honing the skills of media professionals from IINA member news agencies.
Also to be discussed is thenews agencies’ role in countering terrorist and Islamophobic narrative, and participation in the OIC prize to recognize the work of outstanding media professionals.—PR
