Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, a Srinagar court has dismissed petition of illegally detained senior Hurriyet leader and the President of Muslim Deeni Mahaz, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, seeking telephonic conversation with his family.
Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo had pleaded to the court of 4th additional sessions and district judge, Srinagar, through his counsel that he was facing life imprisonment and was lodged at Srinagar Central Jail and had been now in prison for more than 20 years. Dr Fakhtoo further pleaded that his wife, Aasiya Andrabi, because of her political ideologies, has been detained at Baramulla sub-jail under draconian law, Public Safety Act. He told the court that he couldn’t meet his wife and had no information about her well being and that of their children.
The court, however, dismissed the petition, saying that it has no jurisdiction to entertain and decide it.—KMS
