The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A.D. Khawaja has directed that foolproof security arrangements be made in the province on the occasion of Muharram. A police spokesman said here on Sunday that the IGP further instructed that a contingency and communication plan in this regard be devised the Police Range Districts and Zones basis and submitted for perusal. The IGP also called for ensuring the security of the mourning processions, Majalis and other related activities.
Directives were also given in this regard that included the renewal of licences for processions and Majalis, survey of the routes of the processions.
A vigilant eye should be kept on the activities of the miscreants. Control rooms should be established for effective communication.
Peace committees be set up at the police stations’ levels and their meetings should be held.
The distribution of any hate material should be checked and wall chalkings be removed.
There should be effective implementation of the loud-speaker act.
Traffic plan should also be chalked out for ensuring the unhindered flow of traffic. Meanwhile IG Sindh A.D Khawaja took notice on social media reports that a girl was allagedly killed for refusing forced marriage in Dadu disrtict’s Jhangara area.
According to stattment issued here on Sunday, IG Sindh sought immediate report regarding police action on the matter, from DIG Hyderabad and SSP Dadu.
