ICTPOLCOM becomes operational for maintaining criminal records

Islamabad—Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin Monday decided to establish a complaint cell to listen public complaints against police officials and resolve them accordingly. The decision was made in a meeting held here to review the various policing measures in the city.
The complaint cell would be headed by DIG (Operations) Kashif Alam which would review the cases about complaints of citizens with police.
IGP Islamabad ordered the officials of Operation Division to listen complaints of citizens and address them.
He asked SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani to hold ‘Open Kutchery’ twice a week at zonal level and also appreciated his efforts of arranging Kutchery last day at sector I-16 besides ensuring immediate steps to address grievances of public.
Islamabad police chief also directed Zonal SPs to hold ‘Open Kutchery’ twice a week at two police stations and review the under investigation cases in the presence of complainants and investigation officers.
“Merit should be the only policy in making decision about such cases,” he added. The IGP ordered all Station House Officers (SHOs) to take action against those involved in crime of minor nature.
“Nip the evil in the bud otherwise criminals committing minor crimes get involved in major crime cases,” he maintained.
He directed to focus on community policing measures and bridge the gap between police and public.
The IGP also asked to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens so that trust of people on police and their mutual cooperation may enhance to effectively combat crime. Tariq Masood Yasin said that police morale would be also enhanced besides focus on their courteous attitude and Islamabad police would be made the best force of the country.
The IGP gave commendation certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 20,000 to cops of Islamabad Traffic Police for helping elderly woman and asked to work with same zeal and zest.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Capital Territory Police Communication System (ICTPOLCOM) has become operational for maintaining the complete record of daily registered crime cases, criminals from the day of their arrest and release and departmental history of all police officials and employees.
The complete data of police stations with effect from January 1, 2016 has been inserted in this system while further record is being updated.
IGP Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin said this is modern system in policing history of Pakistan and it would have complete data of daily registered crime cases, record of criminals from the day of their arrest and release and departmental history of all police officials and employees.
In this system, the data of each police station is being incorporated on daily basis while IGP Islamabad, DIG, SSP (Operations), Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and police operators can access this data round the clock even on their smart phones, laptops and personal computers.
This system has complete security features and anyone trying to access it wrongly would be traced through generation of a computerized message.
The IGP Islamabad has directed the relevant authorities to train the officers and acquaint them very well about this modern technique.
He said this system would be very helpful for effective policing and any reported deficiency would be tackled. A computerized copy of FIR would be issued to the complainant after introduction of this system.
