In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission of the territory has taken suo-moto cognizance of reports about Indian police not allowing the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, to undergo a medical checkup.
The Human Rights Commission directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Budgam, to explain the circumstances in which Syed Ali Gilani was disallowed to visit the hospital. A bench comprising Commission’s Chairperson, Justice Bilal Nazki, directed the SSP Budgam to file his report by Monday explaining the circumstances in which the APHC Chairman was restrained from visiting the SMHS hospital for a medical checkup.
The Commission Chairperson also asked the SSP to remain present in person before the rights body on May 22 to explain his position.—KMS
