Govt starts work on ‘Arfa Karim IT City

Karachi—Sindh Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Sikandar Ali Shoro on Thursday said that the work on Arfa Karim Information Technology (IT) City has been started in Malir for the promotion and development of IT.
He said this while having a meeting with the members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
He said the ministry was working on e-governance with health, education, law enforcement agencies, police, judiciary, NADRA, district government and other departments of the government. The minister also stated that his ministry is developing geographical information system which will contain the information related to city maps, roads, plots, population density and others indicators. He offered the services of his department to FPCCI for creating data bank and improving IT related services. FPCCI’s Acting President Arshad Farooq said the efficient use of information technology will create paper less environments and develop strong linkages among the organizations for information sharing.
