Founders Group seeks strengthening trade ties with Turkey

Lahore—Founders Group of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has called for taking full advantage of good friendly and cordial relations with Turkey by promoting mutual trade and business ties.
While addressing a meeting of Founders Group, Chairman of the group Ijaz Butt and senior leader Mian Muhammad Ashraf said that things should not be limited to the friendly visits, good friendly relations should be reflected on the mutual trade and economic ties. Syed Mohsin Raza Bukhari, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Tariq Hameed, Sheikh Mohammad Asif, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Shahid Hassan Sheikh, Mian Muzaffar Ali, Farooq Iftikhar, Ijaz A. Mumtaz, Nasir Saeed and other leaders of Founders Group were present in the meeting.
Mian Muhammad Ashraf said that Turkey for being second fastest growing economy of the world after China and first in the European Union has a lot to offer to their Pakistani counterparts and they should avail the available opportunities. He called for exchange of business delegations so that both the sides could have first hand knowledge of the available opportunities in Pakistan and Turkey. He said that both the countries have marvelous untapped business potential that needs to be realized by maximizing the involvement of private sectors of the two countries. He hoped that the economic relation between the two countries would strengthen further to create a win-win situation for Pakistan and Turkey.
Turkey and Pakistan are founding members of the Economic Cooperation Organization and part of the Developing 8 Countries (D-8) organization. Both nations have worked to negotiate a preferential trading agreement, aiming to considerably increase trade and investments, especially in transport, telecommunications, manufacturing, tourism and other industries
Founders Group leaders said that Turk President has given historic remarks about Pakistan and offered cooperation therefore a strategic approach should be embraced by the government.
