First batch of rolling stock for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (LOMT), manufactured in China, will arrive Lahore in July as laying of track at depot at Dera Gujjaran has already commenced for parking these carriage. This was revealed during the weekly review meeting, here, Wednesday, chaired by Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Sunbal.
The meeting was told that a total of 27 trains, each comprising of five cars, will be imported from China for operating LOMT which will run at an interval of five to ten minutes.
So far 67.4 percent of the civil work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project has been completed including construction of elevated viaduct up to a length of eight kilometers along package-I of the project. Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G.T.Road to Chouburji was 82 per cent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 50.25 per cent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 73 per cent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 64.4 per cent. For Package-I, all the 341 transom and 670 U-tub girders required for construction of elevated viaduct have been precast and are being rapidly launched along the available area.
For Package-II, construction of piles, pile caps and piers has been completed and work to precast 819 U-tub girders and 395 transoms has also been started. More than 70 per cent work for rehabilitation of roads from Chouburji to Tokahr Niaz Baig has also been completed.
The Commissioner directed for ensuring un-interrupted supply of water, electricity and sui-gas in areas along the construction work besides making all out efforts for guaranteeing cleanliness and smooth flow of traffic in these localities during the holy month of Ramazan.
