Excise police seize 30kg Charas, weapons

Karachi—The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department, Sukkur, confiscated 30 kilograms Charas and a large quantity of arms and ammunition from a truck at Sindh-Punjab check-post, Kamboo Shaheed.
E&T Department’s officer Jam Ameer Ali Dahar led the action. The arms and ammunition recovered from the truck (LEI 9595) consisted of 16 rifles, 82 pistols, 10 magazines and 21500 live rifle rounds. However, the suspects taking advantage of darkness managed to escape, said a statement issued here on Tuesdy.
The Excise police have impounded the truck, and started investigation after lodging a case.
Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla declared the raid a big success, and announced appreciation certificates for the E&T department’s team.
He directed the officers posted at Sindh-Punjab or Sindh-Balochistan borders to increase vigilance in order to foil any attempts to bring drugs or ammunition into Sindh province.
