Excesses by forces in Shopian condemned

Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders and organizations while expressing serious concern over the highhandedness of Indian forces in Shopian and elsewhere in the territory have termed it the worst form of state repression.
The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a press statement in Srinagar said, “The way the forces beat inmates at Warpora village of Nagbal, Shopian resulting in injuries to dozens of innocents and damage to property worth millions, proves how forces are terrified from ongoing peaceful movement which has unnerved India on global level.”
“It has become an order of the day for forces to barge into colonies where they beat inmates mercilessly and detain youth indiscriminately without any fault,” the statement read.
Moreover, Jamaat expressed its resentment over the enforcement of draconian Public Safety Act on Kashmiris and termed it grave violation of human rights.
APHC leader Muhammad Shafi Reshi in his statement while terming the ongoing movement as most important phase of freedom struggle, said that the resolution of Kashmir issue can’t be bypassed by undemocratic tactics. Advocate Reshi condemned the arrest and killing of youth and said that the sacrifices of Kashmiris won’t go waste and will help Kashmiris to achieve their goal soon.—KMS
