Efforts underway to enhance country’s exports: PM

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that though economic issues are there but the government is making committed efforts to enhance exports of the country.

 

In an interview with a private TV channel here on Thursday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi claimed that economic position of country improved impressively after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) assumed the administrative charge of the country.

 

However, he said that one should look and wait as exports policy can’t be implemented in a single day and it takes a while for its completion and to bear fruit.

 

The Prime Minister lauded the performance of Pakistan Railways (PRs) under the supervision of Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique. He said that Saad Rafique has done much for lessening PRs deficit and making it a profitable institution.

 

He said that the government has not institution to adjust the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). Sindh government was also offered to own PSM but it denied the offer, he said.

 

Talking about Pakistan International Airline (PIA), the Prime Minister admitted the failure of PIA and said that the only option to improve its condition was to privatize it.

 

Premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that he considers Ishaq Dar as best available person for Finance Ministry. He said that earlier Dar used to work for 16 hours daily but now after being indulged in reference spends four hours of his early schedule to pursue the cases against him.

 

He said that being Leader of the House it was his duty to question Capt (retd) Safdar about provocative (disputed) speech in the House targeting a community.

 

The Prime Minister rubbished the reports regarding asking or suggesting Ishaq Dar to step down as Finance Minister.

 

He asked the critics to look into their own deeds prior leveling allegations against him. “My assets have lowered since I joined the active politics,” he claimed.

 

The Prime Minister said that economic policies of a country persist despite the governments were changed.

 

PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that no single institution can solely mend the situation and all nation institutions should put joint efforts for betterment of the country.

 

He said that PML-N always respected the judicial decision and will also continue to accept the decision of court whether they were in favour or against them.
