Education minister takes notice of excess college admission fee


Karachi—Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar took serious notice of excess admission fee being charged from students getting admission in first year in colleges.
He has directed the Director General Colleges to take action against those colleges / principals who were found involved in this malpractice, said a statement on Monday.
The Minister further directed such principals to return fees within a week and provide list of such students to DG Colleges.
He said that admission fee for science / commerce groups for first / second year is Rs 550 while for Arts group is Rs 500 and admission form charges are only Rs 10.
He also said that the colleges were not authorised to sell uniforms as it had come into his notice that certain colleges were also selling uniforms and charging more money in this head.

The Minister requested the parents and the students not to pay extra fee and if it was demanded then register complaint to DG Colleges. Prompt action would be taken against the violators, he said.
He warned the principals not to charge the fee beyond prescribed structure in either case action would be taken against them that might be suspension and termination from service as well.
Meanwhile, the DG Colleges told that monitoring teams had been formed across the province to keep an eye on admissions process and taking action against those colleges that are violating fee structure. —APP
