Easy sailing for top seeds in National Junior Age Group Squash Championship

Peshawar—Easy sailing for top seeded players when Hammad, Noor Zaman in the Under-13 and Rashid Daulat, Ali Sher in the Under-15 category took berth into the quarter-finals of the ongoing National Junior Age Group Ranking Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Tuesday.
In the Under-13 Hammad shocked Waleed Khalil in straight sets by 3-0, the score was 12-10, 11-8 and 11-8. Hammad fully dominated the proceedings and did not allow Waleed to play with free hands. In the second match Noor Zaman recorded victory against Abu Zar in straight sets, the score was 11-9, 12-10 and 12-10. Both Noor and Abu Zar gave each other a tough fight. The match was also enjoyed by good number of spectators present on this occasion.
In third match Afaq Khan registered victory against Shoaib in a marathon 3-1 battle, the score was 12-10, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 while in the last quarter final Fahad Sharif beat Talha Iqbal by 3-1, the score was 5-11, 11-7, 11-9 and 12-10. Both Fahad and Talha played well.
In the first round match Hammad defeated Huzaifa Zahid by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8, Afaq Khan of PAF beat Abdullah Abbottabad by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-6, Noor Zaman beat Saad Zubair by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-5 and 11-7 and Waleed Khalil beat Fawad Hussain by 3-1, the score was 12-10, 6-11, 11-4 and 11-9.
In the Under-15 category quarter-finals Ali Sher upset Mavia Hussain in a thrilling 3-2 battle, lasted for 48 minutes, the score was 12-10, 9-11, 10-12, 13-11 and 12-10. Both Ali Sher and Mavia Hussain gave each other a tough fight with some beautiful nick, drops and forceful smashes were also witnessed. Rashid Daulat beat Jawad Hussain by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-5, Hamza Sharif beat Wajid Khan by 3-0, the score was 12-10, 11-7 and 11-6.
Unseeded Saqib Iqbal upset Ahmad Hassan by 3-1 in another thrilling match. Second seed Ahmad Hassan was looked tired and he did not has answer of forceful smashes of Saqib Iqbal. The score was 10-12, 11-9, 11-8 and 12-10.
In the first round matches Ahmad Hassan beat Hamza Zahid by 3-0, the score was 12-10, 11-4 and 11-8. Saqib Iqbal beat Abdul Ahmad by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-9, Hamza Sharif beat Khushal Riaz by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8.—APP
