Making conversation with God..!

Monday, April 11, 2011 - One of the saddest things I see in a church or temple is some prayer being repeated by individuals, like some magic mantra. Prayer means talking, yes my friend, making conversation with God, not repeating words, and thinking some miracle will happen. A prayer I see repeated often in church is what is called, “The Lord’s Prayer’ and here is a short scene as to what could happen if God actually talked back when you said that prayer”
“Our Father Who Art In Heaven” says the person praying. “Yes?” asks God. “Don’t interrupt me. I’m praying.” “But — you called ME!” says God. “No, I didn’t call you. I’m praying, ‘Our Father who art in Heaven!” “There — you did it again!” says God. “Did what?”
“You said, “Our Father who art in Heaven” Well, here I am!” “But I didn’t mean anything by it. I was, you know, just saying my prayers for the day. I always say the Lord’s Prayer: Kind of like fulfilling a duty.” “Go on.” Says God.” “Okay, Hallowed be thy name.” “Hold it right there. What do you mean by that?” asks God. “By what?” “By “Hallowed be thy name”?”
“It means, it means .. .God! I don’t know what it means. It’s just a part of the prayer. By the way, what does it mean?” “It means you are honoring, and respecting the name of God!” “Hey, that makes sense.
I never thought about what ‘hallowed’ meant before. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven.”
“Do you really mean that?” asks God. “Sure, why not?” “What are you doing about it?” asks God. “Doing? Why, nothing, I guess, I just think it would be kind of neat if you got Control, of everything down here like you have up.”
“But, have I got control of you?” “Well, I go to church.” “And do what?” “Well I say, The Lords Prayer!” “Right!” says God, “You mumble words without knowing what it means! Expecting miracles! No my child prayer is not magic words!” “Then what is it God?” “It is, what you are doing now, my child; talking to me, asking questions, and receiving answers. That is what prayer is all about! You and I in deep conversation..!”
