Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali tipped as FM

Dr Jassim Taqui

Tuesday, March 29, 2011 - Islamabad—The ruling elite has reached consensus on selecting Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali as Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to reliable diplomatic sources, Mr. Ali would take the oath at any moment.

The decision was made following dumping Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi due to acute differences with the PPP and the President Mr. Asif ali Zardari.

Mr. Ali served as the foreign minister of Pakistan in the government led by PPP. In the February 2008 elections, he was returned to the National Assembly for the fifth time defeating his arch rival former foreign minister Khurshid Qasuri.
