Customs seize 1000 bottles of whisky

Wednesday, February 26, 2014 - Karachi—The staff of Model Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization, Karachi in a grand sea and land operation foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 1000 bottles quantity of contraband foreign origin liquor worth millions of rupees and seized the same.

According to details, credible information was received to the effect that more than 1000bottles of liquor would be smuggled from Gulf States into Pakistan through sea routes. An operational strategy was designed by ACP/HQ to foil this attempt of smuggling. He deployed a special team of officers and staff of Anti Smuggling to foil this attempt accordingly.

Strict surveillance and patrolling both by sea and land was maintained in both the Western and Easter Sectors as a result of which the smugglers got no space and were compelled to dump the smuggled whisky in the sandy/mud area of Eastern Sector with the danger of apprehension. The Customs Officers and staff after hectic efforts succeeded to locate the dumped whisky in the Eastern Sector at the specified area with the help of iron rod, spades and other tools and recovered the smuggled/foreign origin liquor duly packed in jute bags.
