Zubair Qureshi

Thursday, December 26, 2013 - Islamabad—Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday commended Nawab Kaifi, a versatile media personality, for having written his maiden poetry collection ‘Yeh Mojza Hay’ (This is a Miracle). The Minister was the chief guest at the book launching ceremony. Former Vice Chancellor Karachi University Dr Pirzada Qasim presided over the ceremony while eminent poet Amjad Islam Amjad, senior intellectual Agha Nasir, noted journalist Hamid Mir and CEO of an advertising agency and a personal friend of Kaifi, Tahir A Khan spoke on the occasion. They discussed Nawab Kaifi’s poetic talent in different ways.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid reminisced the previous term of the Nawaz government when one year after conducting nuclear tests in Chaghi, the government announced a prize for the best written poetic anthem to celebrate Chaghi’s first anniversary.

“I was PTV chairman at that time and Nawab Kaifi brought his poem ‘Yeh Mojza Hay” to me,” the minister said. The poem was subsequently selected and was aired by the PTV to celebrate the first anniversary of the nuclear blasts.

Dr Pirzada Qasim stressed the positive aspect of the poems. He said Kaifi’s poems indicate he is going to become a great poet of Urdu in the coming days.

Amjad Islam Amjad said he would only speak about the merits of the book as “it is customary in our society that on the wedding day no one points out shortcomings of the bride”.

Tahir A Khan said love is the central point of Kaifi’s poems. He is a man of versatile talent. Hamid Mir in light humorous way commended Kaifi’s work.
