PAC first meeting likely in Dec

Friday, November 15, 2013 - Islamabad—Public Accounts Committee (PAC) first meeting is likely to be convened in the first week of December. Sources said PAC has sent letter to all ministries, divisions and constitutional institutions on November, 8 saying that information has been received in PAC secretariat that the institutions are not holding  meeting of their respective Departmental Accounts Committees (DAC) and due to this reason the important matters have been put on hold. Holding of DAC meeting on monthly basis be ensured, letter said further.

PAC has also asked Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) to direct its auditors to extend cooperation to ministries, departments and institutions.

Sources said a letter has also been sent by PAC to Supreme Court (SC). When contacted by Online in this respect, SC sources said no letter has been received by it from PAC. SC sources told Online that it is holding DAC meeting regularly and no audit objection is pending.—Online
