Sindh’s progress in political unity

Waqas Malik

The gateway of Islam Sindh has a credit to submit the 1st resolution in creation of Pakistan resulting Pakistan appeared as country at the Atlas of world. To convert the newborn State into a successful State the people of Province of Sindh played an important role. Especially Karachi first capital of Pakistan on creation, has played remarkable role to stable the economy. Industrial / traders of Sindh including Karachi took part not only in creation of Pakistan but also leads it on the way of progress shouldering along with the political parties. That why Karachi is called the mini Pakistan.

After the capital been shifted to Islamabad, Karachi is considered to be the economic capital of Pakistan Province of Sindh politically and economically is an stable province which is backbone in the progress of Pakistan. Pakistan Peoples Party has an honour from its creation uptill now from Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and now under leadership of honourable President Asif Ali Zardari for inter-provincial coordinator and strong federation. Pakistan Peoples Party achieved clear majority is 2008 elections. It was in position to make Government without support of any other party but that was the vision of Chairperson of Asif Ali Zardari he smoothly the way of coalition and achieved confidence of all parties of Province and prepared them to save Sindh and Pakistan specially set-aside the part past bitter new the second biggest Parliamentary Party of the Province MQM and adopted the policy of serving the nation. Which resulted in a positive progress.

In this respect the efforts of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, MQM Head Altaf Hussain, Awami National Party’s Head Asfandyar Wali and Pir Sahab Pagara are highly appreciable for this unity, keeping in view the national demands. The leadership of Peoples Party is well aware of the problems been faced by Pakistan. Continued Martial Law. Attempts weakened the democratic system in this country. Unfortunately, the democratic system of Government has not been given time to grow up. Therefore, this country is filled in the most of problems. Common man was grinded in the problems of unemployment, law and order, price hike and injustice. Moral of national institutions was going down. Nation was disappointed, that’s why to make the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto come true. Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah adopted the philosophy of taking all parties together to strengthen the democracy. The response of all other parties MQM, PML-F and ANP is also appreciable. From the day Pakistan Peoples Party come into Government the enemies of country as well as democracy are once again waken up. In her last days Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, to root out dictatorship. Kept away her political difference and took oath to unite political forces. The present leadership fulfilled her oath. But the people who do not like to see the success of political coalition of parties and democracy started to de-strengthen the democracy. These unseen forces are once again become active and engaged in making disturbances in PPP and MQM.

Pakistan Peoples Party and MQM are major responsible parties of the Province of Sindh having mandate of people. These two parties are motive and vast vision for the people of Province and they have no realised the economic property as in brotherhood. The people of Sindh Province in 1940 not only sacrificed for the creation of Pakistan but passed 1st resolution and make it possible to exist Pakistan. Now, after 60 years once again Pakistan is demanding sacrifice. The people and political parties of Sindh Province not led anybody to sabotage the peace prosperity and economic growth of the Province because if this country exists then we exist without it we are nothing. Therefore, we have to keep vigilant eye on surroundings. That will be in our as well as its country’s benefit.

—The writer is Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh.
