Police identify 8 dead in Highway accident

Two killed in separate violence incidents

Monday, July 01, 2013 - Hyderabad—The SHO of Sann police station Irfan Akram Sunday identified the eight persons died in an accident on Indus Highway near Sann town on Sunday as Rizwan Qureshi and his wife Quratullain Qureshi, Faisal Qureshi and his wife Muneeza Qureshi, six- year-old Hania, four- year- old Habiba, four-year-old Abdul Rehman and three-month- old infant Hussain.

Both the deceased couples are parents of the deceased children however it was still not known as to which child belongs to which couple, the SHO said.

The three injured include around eight- year- old Zenab, eight-year- old boy whose name is not yet known and the car driver Irfan Khokhar.

All the injured have been shifted to Liaquat University Hospital in Jamshoro district.

The SHO said the family belongs to Karachi and their relatives have been informed about the accident. The road accident occurred on Indus Highway near Sann town in Manjhand taluka on Sunday claiming at least eight lives, including four children and left another three injured.

According to Edhi Welfare Foundation sources, all the deceased are believed to be members of a family. The accident happened when a bus collided head on with a car in which the family was travelling.

The victims were returning to Karachi after attending the Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. All the dead and injured were shifted to the Manjhand Taluka Hospital.

According to the Manjhand police, the bus driver escaped along with the bus after the accident. D I Khan: A man was allegedly killed by his brother over involvement in drug selling while a teenager was gunned down by a proclaimed offender here, police said on Sunday.

According to details, in the first incident that took place in District Lakki Marwat, a dispute arose when Ibrahim exchanged harsh words with his brother, who was involved in drug selling. Later, Ibrahim killed his brother when he refused to quit heinous crime of drug pushing and selling.

Meanwhile, a teenager, Imran who was on the way to his home sustained critical wounds when Gul Nawaz opened indiscriminate firing on him, near village Nawabi in Tank area. He succumbed to injuries on way to hospital while offender managed to escape from the crime scene.

Cases have been registered in the relevant police stations and investigations are underway.

Multan: A man was killed while an other sustained serious injuries in an accident at Ganda Nala Mumtazabad here. According to rescue 1122, Salman and Waqas were going on motorcycle whent it collided wih a truck coming from opposite side. As a result Salman died on the spot while Waqas sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Nishtar hospital.

Burewala: Two persons were killed and another injured in an accident near chak no 149/EB. According to police, Muhammad Idress, Nazir Ahmad and a ten year old boy Majid were going to chak no 50/EB by motorcycle riksha when it collided with a bus coming from opposite side. As a result Idrees and Nazir died on spot while Majid received injuries and was shifted to THQ hospital here.—APP
