Staff ReporterTuesday, June 11, 2013 - Karachi–Over 1100 graduates belonging to different disciplines received their degrees and shields at the fourth Convocation of Dow University of Health Sciences held today at Ojha Campus of Dow University, Karachi. DUHS holds its fourth Annual Convocation to confer degrees upon the graduates of MBBS, BDS, M.Phil, MBA, Nursing and Medical Technology and other postgraduates of various disciplines. Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, DUHS presided the Convocation as the chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Umer Farooq, Pro Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof. Junaid Ashraf, Principal, Dow Medical College beside a large number of dignitaries, academic council members, professors, chairmans, HoDs, lecturers, parents and students attended the Convocation. In his address Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Vice-Chancellor-DUHS congratulated the graduates and their parents and also reminded all graduates of their responsibilities.
He also recounted the progress of the University since its inception and highlighted the developments of the University since its inception. He informed that since it was first established in 2003 from three constituent institutions to now with almost 50 institutions. He said that the vision and mission of DUHS is focused on three domains that include academic excellence, human resource development and community healthcare. The University since its inception has been aiming to provide maximum possible health services to the community through various ways.
He advised the graduates to keep high standards of medical profession in their house job and future medical practice. He stressed the student that not to involve in mal practice and bring pride and diginity in your profession. Prof. Umer Farooq & Prof. Junaid Asrhaf addressing the convocation congratulated young doctors and their parents for acquiring medical degree. Later on, Prof. M. Umer Farooq along with the students performed Hippocratic Oath taking. In the end, Prof. Masood Hameed Khan along with Prof. Umer Farooq & Prof. Junaid Asrhaf awarded gold medals to distinct graduates and degree other graduating doctors.
