Power shortage

Nuzrat Fatima

Tuesday, May 07, 2013 - No country can progress without proper usage of its resources. The people of Pakistan are facing lots of problems due to shortage of electricity. Load shedding is a great curse. It brings untold misery to people belonging to all walks of life weather they are students, patients, businessman. industrialists, farmers, laborers, mechanics, house wives etc. It brings all economic, agriculture and industrial progress to a standstill. The fluctuation plays havoc with the electric equipments like refrigerators, VCRs, Television, and Computers etc. Whether it is summer or winter, load shedding in there. Sometimes it is scheduled, while or other occasions it is totally unscheduled.

There are many factors behind electric load shedding in Pakistan. These factors include shortage in river waters, over population, new connections, electric supply to villages, low generation of electricity, fewer dams, power theft, line losses etc. The load shedding is the result of corruption, inefficiency, mismanagement and defective planning in WAPDA besides, incomplete projects like Kala Bagh Dam, misuse of available resources, no generation from atomic and solar energy, lack of consenus and the apathy of the government contribute to load shedding.

If this situation continues sooner or later the industry of Pakistan will finish or the industrialists will shift their industries to other countries. As a result unemployment, poverty and terrorism will rule over Pakistan. It is our appeal tothe government official that they should take serious steps increase our power production. Muslmaan people suffering from loadshedding do not need guns, they need swords like khalid bin waleed to conquer WAPDA and the bill collectors every month.
