Rescue 1122 commemorates Int’l Firefighters Day

Sunday, May 05, 2013 - Lahore—The Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) commemorated “International Firefighter Day” on Saturday all over the Punjab province.

All the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) conducted seminars, awareness activities and organized special functions in remembrance of martyred fire fighters of Rescue 1122, who lost their lives while saving the lives of others.

While addressing the rescuers at Emergency Services Academy, DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer, flanked by Secretary Fire Safety Commission Rafey Alam, Director Administration Brig (r) Dr. Arshad Zia and other senior rescue officials, congratulated the rescuers on celebrating this day. He also paid rich tribute to the services of those firefighters, who sacrificed their lives saying firefighter is the real hero of society and firefighting is a noble profession. “They lost their own lives but succeeded in providing a sense of safety to citizens by their passion, professionalism and effective fire fighting,” he added.

Dr. Rizwan Naseer further said that Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has established modern Fire Service and Disaster Emergency Response teams in Pakistan in limited resources on modern line and rescuers have been trained with latest equipments & vehicles in Emergency Services Academy to maintain International Standard.

Later, DG Rescue led a Flag March comprising of fire vehicles including Aerial Platforms, Turn Table Ladders, Fire Investigation Unit, and others.

The Flag March started from Emergency Services Academy moving towards Jail Road, via Shadman Chowk, Governor House, Mall Road, Canal Road, Muslim Town, Ichhra and ended again at the starting point.

The fire rescuers, lead fire rescuers and other rescue officials clothed in fire suits standing on fire vehicles raised slogans of fire safety.
