Role of women in socio-economic development

Friday, April 26, 2013 - Islamabad—Centre for Policy Studies,Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) organized seminar “Development in Pakistan and Women Inclusive Strategies” to create awareness about the role of women in the realization of the vision of a prosperous Pakistan, here today. The seminar intended to reinforce the need for continued women participation in various fields of social and economic activities.

While addressing, the chief guest Rector CIIT Dr. S M Junaid Zaidi said the women can play important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

He emphasized the need for developing strategies to further tap the talent and potential of women workforce of the country.

On the occasion, Melissa Kelly of Australian High Commission said there is strong link between women inclusive strategies/policies and development, growth and progress. “The central position of women in nation building and stable and peaceful societies can never be ignored”, she said.While addressing Founder President Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries Dr.Shehla Javed Akram said role of women in development of any society can never be ignored and the only need is to encourage women and up-to-date them according to modern technology.—APP
