Salim AhmedTuesday, April 02, 2013 - Lahore—A four-member Caretaker Cabinet of Punjab was sworn in at a ceremony held here at Darbar Hall of Governor’s House Monday.
Governor Punjab Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood administered the oath while Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi, political personalities, Chief Secretary Punjab, Chairman Planning & Development, Senior Member Board of Revenue, secretaries of various provincial departments and Advocate General Punjab were also present on the occasion.
The caretaker provincial ministers who took oath of their offices are: Tariq Pervaiz, Saleema Hashmi, Arif Ijaz and Shams Mehmood Mirza.
Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi while congratulating the provincial ministers said that the caretaker setup is completely impartial and non-political. He said that holding of elections in a free, fair and transparent manner is the responsibility of the caretaker setup which will be discharged efficiently. He said that no hurdle will be tolerated in holding of general elections in a peaceful and orderly manner. He said that a peaceful atmosphere will be ensured for general elections so that the voters could exercise their right of franchise in an independent manner. He said that no one will be allowed to take undue advantage while corruption will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that no illegal activity will be permitted and stern action will be taken against the elements involved.
Earlier, Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi held a meeting with Governor Punjab Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood at Governor’s House during which general elections, political situation of the country and other issues were discussed. The members of caretaker cabinet after taking oath of their offices held an informal meeting with Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi and Governor Punjab during which the matter of holding free, fair and transparent elections was discussed.
