Recreational parks in shambles PHA fails to justify its existence

Staff Reporter

Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - Rawalpindi—The Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA), devised specially to improve the conditions of the recreational places, have failed to bring about change in out-look of parks which are in a shambles.

Most of the recreational places of Rawalpindi including Nawaz Sharif Park, B-Block Park, Liaquat Bagh and Ladies Park are in a shambles due to slackness of the PHA.

After establishment of a nursery in Nawaz Sharif Park, broken pots and uneven mud was spread everywhere in the park besides construction material and other items are stored in the park. The snail paced development work in the park is also a matter of concerns to the visitors.

On the other hand, sprinkling system in Liaquat Park, constructed at the cost of million of rupees, has broken down before it was properly lunched.

Citizens talking to mediamen said that Punjab government should take notice of the incompetence of the PHA and evaluate the performance of the body during last two years after establishment of Parks and Horticulture Agency.

They demanded Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to look into the matter and issue immediate direction for the improvement of the recreational places in Rawalpindi city.
