Sheikh-ul-Islam wants to spread unrest: Nawaz

Saturday, January 05, 2013 - Peshawar—Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif Friday said he saw a well-planned conspiracy in the hidden agenda of Sheikh-ul-Islam to derail the democracy and spread chaos and unrest in the country but his party would thwart all such moves with full might.

“The route adopted by the so-called scholar of Islam, Tahir-ul-Qadri, leads nowhere but only to chaos aiming at creating uncertainty and unrest in the country,” PML-N chief told media persons here at the Bilour house.

Mian Nawaz Sharif air dashed to provincial metropolis to offer Fateha for the soul of slain ANP leader and senior minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bashir Ahmad Bilour with his elder brother Federal Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour along with party’s top provincial and central leadership.

Two-time former prime minister, however, declared in a categorical tone that a few thousand people could not be allowed to deprive 180 million people of their rights. He said the proposed long march of Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran chief Tahir-ul-Qadri, who used to deliver lectures on Islam, was quite intriguing and only aimed at creating a chaotic atmosphere in the country and was not going to serve Islam by any mean. He, however, said he was unable to understand which forces were behind Tahir-ul-Qadri.

Nawaz also criticised the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement and PML-Q leadership for what he said their duplicity in character for supporting the long march against the government while being part of the government.

He said he failed to understand the philosophy of the coalition partners of the government, who are taking part in long march. He questioned whether MQM would march against its own ministers

“I fail to understand the ideology of MQM leadership as well that of PML-Q and their dual behaviour, it is now up to the voters of these two parties to seriously think about this,” Mian Sahib maintained. He said unfortunately both the parties were the coalition partners of the government and they should either sit with Zardari or leave the government and side with Sheikh-ul-Islam.

He regretted that Qadri was asking the people to sell their jewellery, motorcycles and other valuable goods for holding the public rallies. Islam does not allow plundering people in the name of Islam. “You deprive people of their valuables in the name of Islam and then spend it on politics, what kind of Islam you are presenting”. He questioned and asked Tahir-ul-Qadri to stop using Islam for his personal gains.

Earlier, offering Fateha for the departed soul of Bashir Bilour at Bilour house, Nawaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to Shaheed Bashir Bilour for his bold stance against the terrorism and sacrificing his life to ensure peace in the region.

Besides Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Information Minister of KP Mian Iftikhar Hussain and other leaders of the ANP were also present to receive Nawaz Sharif at Bilour house amid tight security.
