Staff ReporterMonday, November 05, 2012 - Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the dream of development cannot be materialized without modern knowledge therefore Punjab government has started the process of provision of laptops to the youth.
As many as 30,000 laptops have reached for the second phase of Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme, distributed of which will be started on November 05 from Bahawalpur.
Laptops would be given to 3000 girl and boy students of second shift while a total of one lakh laptops will be given to students on merit under second phase.
It is worth mentioning that Punjab government had started distribution of laptops among girl and boy students on merit last year in which free laptops were provided to 125,000 students belonging to Punjab, other provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and Azad Kashmir but these students were belonged to regular education session. Later, on the demand of the students, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also declared the students of second shift eligible for laptop scheme and its second phase is being started from Southern Punjab. In this phase, first time laptops would also be given to 4,000 female and male students of different institutions of Islamabad on merit.
People are highly appreciating the decision of Punjab government for harmonizing the youth with latest educational needs and with the distribution of laptops especially the young generation is being associated with information technology. Due to personal interest of Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the laptop scheme is speedily continuing and special importance is being given to initiation of its second phase from Southern Punjab on Monday.
