Labour department to promote gender equality

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - Karachi—Sindh Labour Department has signed a memorandum with ILO with the motive to promote Gender Equality through establishment of gender units within the department, said an official on Monday.

The department under the scheme would not only focus on strengthening of labour administration and inspection machinery but will make conscious efforts for affirmative action budgets. The budgets of the department, under each and almost every head, will be looked at through a gender lens making them more responsive to address the needs and realities of aspirations of workers. Due attention would be paid at the needs and endeavors of women, men, girls and boys, he elaborated.—APP
