Hindu community flays profane film

Sunday, September 23, 2012 - Chaman—Hindu community on Saturday staged a demo to protest against the profane film here in Chaman. A large number of protestors belonging to the minority Hindu community took to the street to condemn the blasphemous movie that sparked anti US violence across the world. The participants holding anti US placards and banners after marching on various roads in the town staged sit-in at Shuhada Chowk.

The USA claims to be the champion of human rights on one side, and on the other it hurt the sentiments of the Muslims on the name of freedom of expression, speakers said. They demanded of the UN to pass a law against production of such movies to bolster inter-faith harmony. The called for exemplary punishment to the film producer.

Earlier, talking to media persons in Islamabad, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony Dr Paul Bhattai also appealed the West to take strict measures to stop such acts, saying that they created a rift among adherents of different religions. Creators of this blasphemous movie should be given exemplary punishment, he said, adding that it had triggered violent protests and killings in different countries. He said that the Christian community across the world supported Muslims across the world and condemned the shameful act.

He said that all religions taught peace, brotherhood, protection of others’ rights and promoted tolerance.
