Nigeria most populous nation

Sunday, September 23, 2012 - Sokoto—The question of either Nigeria was a construct or a country arose during and after the British colonialism. Nigeria as a project refers to as a project sceptically pursued by some who believed that there is no other choice, and as for others it sounds invalid as they are in seat of power.

The beginning of the colonial rule changed many dynamics within that century. During the colonialism new colonial capital, new ports, new transport systems and coastal areas led to great improvement within the region.

Previously, the coastal areas with low population densities began to experienced huge immigration which continues up till today. About half of the population of West Africa had abandoned their farms in the rural areas and migrated to urban centres.—AFP
