Shahab club Toru clinch Handball trophy

Sunday, September 23, 2012 - Peshawar—Shahab club Toru clinched the trophy after defeating Mardan club in the final of the Handball event part of the ongoing District Mardan Sports Festival played here at Gen (Retd) Ihsan Ullah Khan Sports Complex Mardan on Saturday.

Principal Government Post Graduate College Professor Fayyaz Ali Shah was the chief guest on this occasion. President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Handball Association Farooq Khan, Organizing Secretary of the Festival and Director Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board Syed Saqlain Shah, Assistant Director Jamshed Baloch and large number of teams officials and players were also present and witnessed the thrilling final.

The players of both Shahab club Toru Mardan and Mardan Club presented excellent display of perfect passing and attacking moves. Shahab club opened the account through Sajid Ali Shah when he scored three individual goals in the very outset of the match.

The three goals lead of Shahab club could not remain for long as Mardan club’s shooter Inam Ullah scored five individual goals on the field attempts. There were heated moves from both sides as well.

At half time Shahab club was a leading by 9-6. It was the second session in which Shahab club also dominated and reached to 17-12. Khalid was the top scorer for Shahab club while Inam Ullah scored five individual goals. Thus Shahab club won the match by 17-12.
