Govt to allocate 5pc of GDP for education

Friday, September 21, 2012 - Karachi—President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCCI) Mian Abrar Ahmed blaming (Information Technology) illiteracy for Pakistan’s low economic growth (& exports), informed that KCCI had urged the Government to invest 5% of GDP on education without which country could not progress. He was speaking at Intel Small & Medium Business (SMB) Technology Day observed in collaboration with KCCI & SMEDA here on Thursday.

Mian Abrar Ahmed calling IT as the language of 21st century stressed on the importance of computers, communications & robotics in the country’s development, maintained that cooperation between KCCI & Intel would be an ideal situation. Observing that in this era entire business & banking transactions could be carried out via laptops & cell phones, he said that KCCI wanted to see IT penetrate to the grassroots level with every individual owning a computer. Noting that a large number of SMEs here were dependent on Khata System, he said that they could not expand without turning towards Computers.
