Call for helping needy persons

Friday, September 21, 2012 - Lahore—Minister for Education Punjab Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that those persons who dedicate their lives and resources for social welfare, are the assets of the society and government would provide all out cooperation and assistance to such people as well as NGOs.

He said that Punjab Government launched public welfare projects to facilitate the masses since the formation of government, however, he emphasized the need for launching a public awareness campaign regarding help of needy persons and philanthropist activities. He expressed these views at collective marriages ceremony of 100 couples held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal organized by Khushi Foundation, a local NGO.

The minister said that provincial government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, is providing free medicines, diagnostic and treatment facilities in the public sector hospitals of the province and standardized education to the students, whereas, record funds have been allocated for this purpose to health, education and social sectors.

He said that provincial government is providing maximum funds for the social uplift and public welfare activities and government would encourage the philanthropists to organize such events like collective marriages of needy persons.
