Tunisian Minister of State calls on PM

Friday, September 21, 2012 - Islamabad—Hedi Ben Abbes, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf here on Thursday and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Welcoming the Tunisian Minister of State, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf congratulated the government and people of Tunisia on their transition from dictatorship to democracy.

The Prime Minister expressed his optimism that the Tunisians, being hard working, resilient and enlightened, will be able to surmount all challenges to make democracy successful in their country.

The Prime Minister said that the people of Pakistan have also successfully struggled in ousting dictatorship and restoring democracy. “Pakistan is ready to cooperate and share its experience with Tunisia so that democracy flourishes and take its roots there”.

Raja Pervez Ashraf stressed that the two countries must expand and enhance bilateral trade and businessmen from the two countries should undertake joint ventures as well as initiate joint projects. Tunisian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said Tunisia and Pakistan are bound in common bonds of religion, culture and traditions.

He apprised the Prime Minister that he has had useful discussions in Pakistan.
