Local bodies convention on 30th: Warraich

Tuesday, September 18, 2012 - Lahore—Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich has said the first local bodies convention will be held in Lahore on September 30.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said the decision had been taken in a meeting.

He said all Punjab district organisations and former councillors would be invited to the convention.

“It aims to pressure the Punjab government to provide local bodies funds worth billions of rupees to elected representatives for use for the welfare of people. They will also appeal to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to hold local bodies polls immediately,” he added.

He said participants in the meeting had flayed the anti-Islam film made by the US.

He said the film had hurt the sentiments of Muslims all over the world and a resolution was also passed against it. He said the constitution did not allow to open cases against the president.—APP
