UN team on missing persons

Iftikhar Mirza

Tuesday, September 18, 2012 - United Nations’ team on missing persons has arrived in Quetta. The six-member of United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances will hold meetings with the relatives of missing and leaders of national and political parties. It is akin to challenge the sovereignty of our country. Time and again, the case of atrocities and brutalities inflicted upon Muslims by Indian army in Indian held Kashmir, were brought to the notice of United Nations High Commission in Pakistan during the past twenty years but to no avail. It would be more appropriate that the Working Group of UN now visiting Pakistan make Srinagar their abode to investigate tens of thousands of missing Muslims there.

Equal treatment must be given to all missing persons without any distinction of their country, caste or creed.
