Raja Tridiv Roy is no more

Tuesday, September 18, 2012 - Islamabad—Chief of Chakma Tribe Raja Tridiv Roy has expired.

President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grief and sorrow on the demise of former minister and ambassador Raja Tridiv Roy.

The President while appreciating the life long services of late Raja Tridiv Roy, who was first elected member of National Assembly from Chittagong in 1970 elections defeating Awami league candidates, said that he remained loyal to Pakistan.

President Zardari said keeping in view the loyalties of Raja Tridiv Roy, he was inducted as Minister in the cabinet of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He continued to serve in the subsequent regimes as an advisor or an ambassador till 1996 and later the government conferred on him the status of a federal minister.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Raja Tridiv Roy, Chief of Chakma Tribe and a former Federal Minister and Ambassador at Large. The Prime Minister said that Raja Tridiv Roy was a great patriot whose services to the nation would long be remembered. —APP
