Inter-city automobile registration transfer banned

Saturday, September 15, 2012 - Rawalpindi—The Excise and Taxation Department Punjab has banned transfer of automobile registration from one city to other. Sources said that E&T Department Punjab has issued the order besides motor branches across the province have been notified in this regard.

Under Motor Vehicle Act, automobile is transferable property and citizens could register it in the nearest motor registration authority. However, citizens will have to face problems due to ban on the transfer of registration from one city to other. In case of vehicles bearing Lahore number, both the buyer and seller will have to be physically present for the transfer of registration at Lahore Motor Branch.—INP
