Dengue larvae, killed at 45 places


Saturday, September 15, 2012 - Rawalpindi—The health officials have found dengue larvae at 45 places in Rawalpindi district that has been killed with chemicals and mechanical process. In the campaign against dengue, more than 1,730 places were checked for dengue larvae by the officials of local government. The health department too has recruited 158 new employees for the purpose.

The liquid chemical used to kill the dengue virus is Rs2,000 per litre, while the powdered chemical is Rs700 per kilogram. In district Rawalpindi, four thousand litre liquid chemical and 10 thousand kilogram powdered chemical is available for the drive against dengue. 73 new machines have been bought for spraying including 70 shoulder and three vehicle machines. Moreover, 152 sanitary workers have been deployed for spraying, while five entomologists and one district coordination officer have been deployed to check the presence of dengue larvae.—INP
