Independent judiciary, democracy go hand in hand: Kaira

Thursday, August 30, 2012 - Skardu—Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira said the government does not believe in confrontation among institutions and we want to see the judiciary independent. He expressed these views while inaugurating FM-93 station of Radio Pakistan at Skardu to meet entertainment and information needs of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, Manzoor Ahmed Watoo, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Mehdi Shah and Director General PBC, Murtaza Solangi graced the occasion. The Information Minister urged people of Gilgit-Baltistan to unite to foil designs of those who want to destroy peace of the region. “Those disrupting peace of the region are enemies of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan and it is our duty to identify those elements and foil their attempts” he remarked.

He said the government would not allow anyone to play with the future of our generations and create hurdles in the way of development of the region. He said the recent trouble is not due to sectarian reasons but it is terrorism aimed at destabilizing the area. He said there will be no compromise on peace in Gilgit Baltistan. He said Federal government will extend full cooperation to the GB government in this regard.

The Information Minister said the government does not believe in confrontation among institutions rather it believes in restoration.
