Irresponsible speech

Abrar H

Thursday, August 30, 2012 - Javed Hashmi took a bold stand against Musharraf and was sent to prison, but before that he has a long history of contradictions and controversies till better sense prevailed. There was a time when he was part of the group called “ Saheb, Bibi , Aur Ghulam”.

He is respected only because of singular act of defying Musharraf. He should show some grace. His resort to unparliamentarily language and reference to marriages, of his former political partners, who are now his adversaries is in bad taste. If in his opinion marrying more than once is a sin, then this sin was committed while he was part and parcel of PML(N). He must remember that he has still not given a satisfactory reply to outstanding claim of Advocate Yusuf Memon for Rs 50 million. In any case the party that he now belongs to is headed by a man whose personal history as far as relationship with women, and partying is not all that well and so those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.

People of Pakistan inspite of personal flaws of Imran Khan look up to him because they want a change. Unfortunately instead of this expected change what they see are men like Javed Hashmi who start foaming from their lips while they make personal attacks against members of a party which he was part and parcel of for three decades. From Musharraf’s Foreign Minister, his Information Minister, Minister for Industry, Minister for IT etc to Zardari’s former head of Planning Commission, there are many with controversial backgrounds that have joined PTI today. If we are to dig into the personal lives viz a viz marriages and affairs of our political leadership, than none from the PPP, PML(N), MQM, PML(Q), ANP, PTI, JUI(F), PML(F) etc is above board.

Let us move forward. Declaring assets by PTI was good move, inspite of their gross under value and claims of gifts, which previously were shown either as benami transaction or bought after selling London flat. People expect the PTI to start addressing real issues, provide a blue print for remedy of these ills, instead of this blame game that is consuming their energy.
