Shortage of composition in trains irks passengers

Monday, August 20, 2012 - Lahore—Shortage of composition in hardly available passenger trains for branch lines irked passengers who were going to their hometowns to celebrate Eid festival with their families.

A passenger Khalid told APP here on Sunday morning at Lahore Railway station that only two trains are available for Narowal section in the evening and he had to wait for several hours as no other means of transport available to his area.

He said earlier 20 trains come and go daily but the present administration had shutdown several trains one by one on the basis of many issues but, he added that those trains were not restored after removal of the issue.

Sajid, another passenger intended to travel with his family said delay of trains for hours is also a major problem, adding that he would have to wait for the train for more than seven hours as it was late from Karachi.

He said shortage of passenger coaches during the Eid days would also be a problem, adding that women and children had to travel without seats and sometimes in the doors of the train which could be resulted into any accident.—APP
