LHC orders police to produce Faizan’s father-in-law

Saturday, August 11, 2012 - Lahore—The Lahore High Court on Friday ordered police to produce Shahzad Butt, father-in-law of Faizan Haider who was killed by American citizen Raymond Davis, and others by August 13 on a plea for custody of Muhammad Ahmad, minor son of Faizan Haider.

Justice Ali Baqar Najfi passed the order on a petition filed by Imran Haider, brother of Faizan Haider, for recovery of his nephew from Shahzad Butt and others.

The petitioner through his petition submitted that after receiving bloodmoney, his deceased brother’s wife Zohra shifted to her parents’ house along with minor son Muhammad Ahmad.

The petitioner said that Zohra’s father was a greedy person and he killed Zohra and her mother to take custody of minor and the money.

The petitioner alleged that Shahzad Butt (Zohra’s father), his son Haider Ali and Seemab Batool were hiding the minor Muhammad Ahmad since the death of his mother.

He pleaded the court that directions be issued to police for the recovery of minor and its custody be handed over to the petitioner.

Earlier, the court while issuing notice summoned the three respondents for today.

But, the police informed today that the respondents were not residing at the mailing address given in the petition. The court directed the police to produce them by next date of hearing, August 13.—APP
